Eight ministers, including a female, and some top government officials were on Wednesday tested for Coronavirus to determine their status.
More ministers will to take their turns after the results of this batch might have been released, it was learnt. The results are expected today, Thursday
It was learnt that some of the ministers included a few involved in managing the COVID-19 pandemic for the country are among those tested.
It was gathered that the blood samples of the ministers were taken by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Although the list was kept under wraps in line with the relevant guidelines, the ministers are expected to be communicated on Thursday.
A top source said “the measure is preventive since those tested had played key roles in helping the nation to face the challenges of COVID-19.
The source added: “This government is being fair and realistic in managing COVID-19 without discrimination. Already, eight ministers have undergone CONVID-19 test alongside some government officials. This administration has nothing to hide; it is prepared to make disclosures in line with international best practices.
“The import of the test is to ensure that those in charge of the pandemic also have a clean bill of health. Where they need care themselves, the government will take necessary measures.
“We want Nigerians to appreciate that the pandemic is not racial or political. Coronavirus disease does not have boundary and it is not peculiar to any class of people.”

COVID-19: We Will Deal With Officers Violating IG Orders
The Oyo state Police headquarters PPRO, SP. Fadeyi Olugbenga made this known in a telephone chat with our correspondent said “Our men had been thoroughly warned and lectured, their deployment is not based to go and extort, they are to carry out their lawful duties and make sure they enforce and at the same time secure the lives and properties of the people”.
S.P Olugbenga also warned that any Officer doing otherwise is doing that at his own peril. Violators of Inspector General of Police orders will be seriously dealt with in line with police regulations.
We check officers by using a mechanism of routine check, where senior officers go round to see what the officers are doing and also see to the level of public compliance. Though encouraging, but still have some recalcitrants.

In his view, Oyo state police command has been carrying out sensitization programmes to educate the public on the need to obey government directives and maintain law and order.

He however enjoined the public to report officers violating them with a promise to take proper action but plead the public to obey the rules and regulations put in place to collectively win the war against Coronavirus pandemic.

BREAKING! Accountant-General of the Federation’s office on fire
Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation on Wednesday was gutted with fire.
The Root Media gathered that the building, also known as “Treasury House” is located beside the Federal Capital Territory FCT Police Command in Garki, Abuja.
It was gathered that the fire started from around the third floor, razing the building upwards including the Accountant General’s office and most of the important offices.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known even as workers are currently at home observing.
However, a combined team of men of the Federal and FCT Fire Services, as well as other security operatives, have to a large extent contained the fire.
