COVID-19: TAMPAN Suspends International Theatre Day Celebration

The National Executive Council and Central Working Committee of Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures’ Practitioners (TAMPAN) Worldwide has suspended the celebration of this year’s International Theatre Day (ITD).

The event scheduled to hold on Friday, 27th March, 2020 in Osogbo was postponed indefinitely due to the ravaging CORONAVIRUS pandemic which has caused a global health emergency.

The suspension notice was contained in a statement signed by the President of the association, Otunba Bolaji Amusan Latin on Friday.

He said the decision became imperative as the event will be well attended by theatre practitioners, media practitioners as well as dignitaries within Nigeria and beyond and in adherence to precautions given by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Also, Amusan said the association’s decision on all film shoot locations and productions will be announced in the next 48 hours after deliberations by the stakeholders.

He therefore enjoined all members of the association to stay safe and take the necessary precautionary measures such as constant washing of the hands with soap and water, covering of the nose and mouth while sneezing or coughing, avoid close contact with people that are sick, avoid mass gathering of people, maintain good personal hygiene and other measures advised by health institutions.

According to World Health Organization, Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that cause illnesses ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).

The Virus was first confirmed in Wuhan, China in December, 2019 and has since claimed the lives of over 8,000 people across different countries of the world.

Nollywood: Prince Femi Oyewumi otherwise known as Laditi, is dead.

Veteran actor cum producer in the Nigerian Film industry, Prince Femi Oyewunmi popularly called ‘Laditi’ has passed on.

The actor died in the early hours of today at the age of 64

Laditi had been suffering from a chronic back pain for some months now and was rushed to an hospital when his condition worsen last night.

The late Fémi Oyèwùmí during his lifetime was a down to earth thespian, film director, inimitable composer and script writer. He appeared in epic movies like: Aye toto, Koto Orun, Ija eleye and many more.

May his soul rest in peace.

KCEE welcomes Baby Boy on Wife’s Birthday

Nigerian singer, Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee, has announced the arrival of his third child with his wife, Ijeoma on Tuesday.

The baby’s arrival was announced by Kcee himself who noted that the baby arrived on the same day his wife is celebrating her birthday as well.

The baby boy was named King Kwemtochukwu Okonkwo by his father upon his arrival to the world.

Kcee wrote: “When counting the luckiest people on earth I count myself first, my wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy (King Kwemtochukwu Okonkwo) today which happens to be her birthday. The mother, the father, the newborn baby, Kanye, Sommy and off course his favorite uncle @iam_emoney1 are all doing very well. You all should pls help me wish @misseijay a happy birthday and ask her what she wants as her birthday gift cos money no be problem. God is the greatest no.”

Meanwhile, Livetimesng previously reported that Emeka Okonkwo aka E-Money has been summoned for questioning following the directive given by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu over his abuse of Police escorts attached to him..

The billionaire was said to have drawn the ire of the police boss for using policemen like domestic servants.

It was gathered that the IGP directed the Lagos Police Command to commence an investigation into the young billionaire’s sources of income following allegations that he used his police escorts like domestic servants.

The policemen, said to be drawn from B Operations, command headquarters, were alleged to have reduced themselves to carrying umbrellas, handbags and even doing other menial jobs for E-Money and his household.

Nollywood loses another veteran actress, Chizoba Bosah

Nollywood actress Chizoba Bosah has been reported dead.

The actress during her lifetime stared in several movies and is known for her role in the evergreen movie, Living in Bondage.

According to reports by Yes International Magazine, the 52-year-old movie star passed away on Sunday, May 10.

The report also revealed that the veteran actress lost her life after a long time battle with diabetes, stroke and high blood pressure.

Until her sudden departure, Chizoba was a seasoned actress, producer and presenter. She was one of the cast of the epoch making flick, ‘Living in Bondage’ and her Igbo comedy series- ‘Kanyi Si Ebi’ was a major contributor to the start of Igbo Channel on DSTV.

The actress was also known for her role as Aunty Atinuke in popular Tv drama, Tinsel.
