The Southwest Agenda, SWAG’23, has called on former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take the mandate of leading the country to greater height ahead of 2023 general election in the country.
The call was made in Ibadan where the delegates from all South West States (Oyo,Ogun,Osun,Ondo,Ekiti and Lagos) on Tuesday 15th December,2020 met to delibrate on the way forward for the South West region in the scheme of things toward 2023 Political contest and activities.
According to SWAG, the virtues of courage, determination, committement, vision, focus and strong sense of purpose that have characterised Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s politics, drove his emergence as one of the country’s most successful governors, after Nigeria’s return to democratic governance 20years ago and his stewardship of Lagos State for 8 years remain a reference for good governance in Nigeria and across the region.
The Planning Committee Chairman, Sen. Dayo Adeyeye, in his welcome address said the gathering is to make their own contributions to the arduous and crucial task of helping to shape the future direction of our beloved country, Nigeria.
He added that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man of incandescent intelligence, unmatched courage and integrity to lead the nation to her Dreamland.
“We are not waiting for Asiwaju to come out and make a declaration to run, we have taken it upon ourselves to draft him and kick start the race. We are going to set the ball rolling today and there is no going back.
“We are aware that there is unprecedented level of support for Asiwaju in all the geo political zones and many of these supporters are desirous of launching out. Our model can be a template for all to use with modifications to suit local realities.”
” Our dream and task is to make his Presidency a reality. We call on all Nigerians to join hands across all the nooks and crannies of this great nation at this moment of our greatest need to make his dream a reality. He is one of the most experience politicians in the country today with a track record of unparalleled achievement in all facets of governance.”

Also speaking at the event, Sen. Abu Ibrahim, Katsina South Senatorial district who was represented by Dr. Aliyu Zakarijiya, said Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a leader among the progressive politicians, a genuine Democrat and unrepentant believer in the unity and togetherness of this country.
“Tinubu is a talent-hunter and developer. Some of the people holding Important positions at the national and state levels in Nigeria today we’re previously identified and brought to the limelight by him. Stories abound of how he put together an exception cabinet of competent technocrats and administrators to work with him when he was Governor of Lagos State.”
” The master plan and template for the development of Lagos, which is still being used till today in the state, was drawn under him as Governor. This has been possible through a system emplaced by Asiwaju, which ensured leadership continuity and by extension sustainability of good development programmes.”
Senator Soji Akanbi, a former senator of Oyo State was also full of praise for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he believes he is the right man to lead the country after President Muhammadu Buhari in the coming election.
“This is a man who is deeply committed to the development of the country and we can see that he has been supporting people from different geo political zones of the country to become president and other political posts. He is a man of vision and we are ready to support him to become the next president of the country.”
A communique was issued at the end of the South West Agenda Meeting that all South West delegates are calling Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to throw his hat into the ring.
Also in attendance was ,Hon Musilu Obanikoro, Hon Rotimi Makinde, Hon Bosun Oladele as well as other prominent personalities of the All Progressive Congress in the country.
